On the torch again

The short hiatus from actually building any bikes had me questioning if the 6 frames I’d gotten out the door in december, (all hand mitered and cleanly welded and reportedly the favorite bike of everyone that recieved one) wasn’t  some fluke.  As though my hands and eyes were temporarily controlled by a master fabricator who passed through my mortuary (literally, my house and shop had been a funeral home) before six foot of dirt was thrown on him.

Few orders and no money in the new year slowed production to a trickle (1 frame for Jan. & Feb.).  March finally found me gainfully employed and working as many hours as possible to keep my head above water. Finally, at the beginning of May I have one more frame about ready to go off for paint(powder) & another shod with parts (a mix of old & new for a customer on a budget, 18.5lbs with pedals & nothing fancy or light for parts at all) with a couple more designed and ready for cutting in the cue.

The doubts have evaporated as every time I step up to weld or cut it seems completely natural again. I was wondering when it would happen that I’d be able to make a bike the same way I ride them, instinctively and with an ability to throw in a trick or two to show off and keep it interesting.

It’s good to be back, hope to get some pics of the new bikes up soon.
