Just Riding Along

The classic line from the guy with the mangled bike at the shop trying to explain why you should re-build his wheels for free. “I swear I don’t know what happened. I was just riding and the things just crumpled”. Any way, this one was caught for posterity but I think the frame will be warrantied anyway.

I haven’t actually been able to preview this video with my busted up lap top but from what I gathered by the facebook comments it is footage of good friend and loyal Budd Bike Works customer Mike destroying yet another frame by attempting a ridiculously technical climb. I’ve been asking Mike to catalog the frames he has broken, (the post delivery re-design on the 6th BBW included) in the kind of pure analytical fashion that an engineer such as himself can. Its pretty astounding how many he has broken, which is why I am glad to have had him riding some of my first frames, if there is a weak point in a bike’s design or execution, Mike is going to find it.

He is the owner of the Deceptively Large Frame, BBW #22 & #6 a 29’er trail bike current used as a fixed gear commuter. #22 has been beautifully powder coated brown since pics were posted here, looks real nice and my misgivings about the color were unfounded.

Here’s the video link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhHZr51YpgA.

And Mike if you attempt this on the Deceptively large frame I may have to charge you for any repairs.
