Reply to topic concerning forward offset seat tubes 7/31/2010

Been doin a bit of that myself, a new derailieur mount “standard” has just been introduced that facilitates taking it even further without f’ing up front shifting. It works well to shorten up wheelbases on bikes you might want large tire clearance on. My personal cross bikes have had as short a chainstay as common on a road racer. As a rider that like to wheelie and will at times take a turn in one a rear axle I can get my ass behind is a necessity. On Mtb’s the dramatically offset seat tube can allow for a rear end that behaves a bit more like that of the BMX bikes the wreckless kids are doing such amazing things on.

The other benefit of the tangential seat tube is that it effectively reduces top tube length as you lower the seat, making it possible for people of varying sizes to feasibly fit the same frame.
