New Stone for Sisyphus (or) The world will come to you eventually

I heard a quote once that I’ll paraphrase as, “If you stand in one place long enough the whole world will pass by you eventually.”  I don’t know who said that, but I am pretty sure he/she was an idiot.  What if where you are is some backwater that doesn’t see much traffic, and even in a metropolis like Boston where there are some busy corners you’ll miss all sorts of shit by standing still.  Who ever said that must have just gotten lucky while holding up a wall at some point and thought things like that must happen all the time, or maybe it was a joke.  Either way when I found out that the local bike world was passing by pretty darn close this past weekend at the New England Bike Expo in Somerville, the last thing I could afford to do was stand still.  Instead I’d have to make some quick moves testing out Gentle Giant Moving Company’s latest edition to their truck fleet and pile it high with a payload of some bits from my shop up the hill to the Somerville Armory to show them off to the general public.

It was a great event all around with the week end spent in a beautiful venue mingling with fellow bicycle crafts people and advocates, talking to folks about the personalized design and fabrication I offer at Budd Bike Works, and answering more than a few questions about the trailer.

My thanks go out to Rob and everyone else that worked hard to make this event happen, can’t wait for next year.  Special thanks go out to the lovely Jennifer O of Cut Paste Love and Boston Globe page 1 fame for coming through with hand drawn business cards just in time for the show.

Rides like the dream you wake from in a panicked cold sweat.
